EDUCATION & PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Schedule an Appointment :
I earned my Bachelors degree in Psychology from Florida International University and my Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of Central Florida. I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in the State of New York (012364-01) and the State of Florida (MH15725), as well as a Licensed Professional Counselor in the State of Georgia (LPC015068). I currently live in New York City and work at NYU as a Crisis Response Counselor while maintaining my private practice. This has allowed me to gain the experience and insights to effectively help those struggling with generalized anxiety, performance anxiety, depression, self-esteem concerns, male-specific issues, relationship struggles, concerns related to sexuality and gender identity, mood disorders, and psychotic symptoms.

I was later given the opportunity to work at a local agency in the Orange County, FL area as a primary clinician providing play and behavioral therapy to children and their families. Through this I have gained valuable experience working with children with ADHD, previous trauma, and coping issues as well as involving the family system in bringing about positive change. I am an Adoption Competency Trained Counselor (ACT) and have gained various certifications in children and families needs assessments.
APPROACH TO THERAPY
I believe that the most pivotal aspect of the therapeutic process is forming a genuine bond with my clients in order to facilitate movement forward. By creating a nonjudgmental space, the counselor can provide the client with the tools and support necessary to bring about change. I foster this relationship through implementing creative and interactive interventions that engage the client and counselor. These interventions often utilize cognitive behavioral and person-centered approaches.

CLIENT TESTIMONIALS
"Tyler has been immensely helpful in providing me with a safe and confidential space to express my feelings and realize that I'm not alone in my struggles. He is very interactive and has taught me tools that allow me to better handle issues that arise even when I'm in between sessions. My level of anxiety and depressed feelings have decreased since beginning therapy with him 6 months ago."

"I was very hesitant to begin therapy as talking about my feelings and sharing myself with others has always been a struggle for me, but I was referred to Tyler by a friend, and I am glad I made the decision to call. I felt comfortable with him very quickly and I'm always appreciative of his feedback. I am feeling more confident and taking risks I previously would have been to anxious to take. Thank you!"

"How can I put into words the appreciation I have for Tyler?! I had previously cycled through multiple therapists, feeling like I didn't really "click" with any of them. I was thankful to feel comfortable and relaxed when I met Tyler. I've learned a lot about the way I tend to think about things and how to better handle my negative thoughts. This has been helpful for me in multiple areas of my life, and I feel as though I'm a better wife, mother, and professional for it."
